There are several variations when it comes to wrapping your hands for Muay Thai, Kickboxing, or Boxing. We’ve gone over one of our favorite and simplest ways in this how to video!
Wrapping your hands before bag work, pads, or mitt work provides support for your wrist, protects the bones in your hands, and provides an even striking surface for your knuckles. Wrapping your hands incorrectly most commonly leads to wrist sprains or injuries to the joints in your hands.
We recommend using 180″ semi-elastic handwraps for the best protection, ease of use, and comfort. Be sure that you make the handwrap tight without being overly tight where it would cut off circulation. Feel free to add a strip of athletic tape over the top of the wrist before and/or after you wrap up for additional wrist stability.
Washing Your Handwraps
Handwraps can be hand washed or thrown in with your laundry, then hang dried. We recommend looping the velcro through the thumb loop to create a closed loop to prevent getting too tangled up in the wash. If you’re washing a few pairs, you can add them to a wash bag for delicates. Make sure to wash with like colors!
If you’re new to training, it just takes a few practice sessions to get the process down!
