- Vlad The ImpalerI have been training at AKA for over a year and a half now. This is the best Kickboxing Gym in Austin. Randy, Tessa and all of the coaches are awesome, passionate and great, knowledgeable trainers. Highly recommend this gym to people of all skill levels. - 1/30/2019read moreread less
- Sean FisherQuality over quantity. They give each student a personal touch. Great atmosphere. Awesome coaches. Awesome team atmosphere as well. Doesn’t matter what level you are, Coach Randy will definitely tell you how great you are doing and most importantly what you need to work. Highly recommend. Be prepared to have your patience, dignity and body tested. - 1/30/2019read moreread less
- Mason HI can’t say enough good things about this gym. It has set the standard for what I expect out of any gym moving forward. The coaches are great teachers and people, and have always felt like friends. They care about your improvement and enjoyment of class while pushing you to do better each class. The facilities are large and full of useful equipment. The schedule is full of many different types of classes and focuses, and accommodate all levels of experience. The members are warm and friendly and make fast friends, while caring about the craft and helping to improve one another. I’ve learned a lot at this gym both from the coaches and the members. Best of all, there is always someone better than you at something here so you stagnation is unlikely. The culture of this gym, from my perspective, is warm, full of respect, and focused on everyone’s improvement while maintaining safety and enjoyment. I have yet to find another gym that gets close to this, which, having moved away, has been hard. I look forward to training at this gym again in the future! Thanks to Randy, Tessa, and Adam - and all the other coaches for making this such a great place to train. Can’t wait to be back. - 9/30/2023read moreread less
- josh JustinAustin Kickboxing Academy is an EXCELLENT place to train! The instructors are amazing tacticians that emphasize the importance of the fundamentals while also applying unique guidance to every student based on his/her skill level. I’ve been fighting my entire life, yet every training session I learn something new and relevant to my fighting style and experience level. I spent months looking for the right gym to train at and many gyms fell short of my expectations. However, I was fortunate enough to stumble upon AKA and the place has exceeding my expectations and then some! The instructors are welcoming, friendly, and highly proficient at their craft. I look forward to continuing my training with AKA for many years to come! I highly encourage my fellow military/law enforcement professionals to stop by AKA and get some fantastic training in! AKA is on another level - trust me! - Josh - 1/30/2022read moreread less
- Eric GonzalezI've been going to this gym for almost 7 years since I was 11 and over those years I've learned so many vaulable skills that will stick with me and help me for the rest of my life. I see coach Randy not only as a great coach but as a great mentor along with all the other coaches. This gym has changed my life for the better physically and mentally. The gym is a safe environment with great equipment and huge space for everyone. The atmosphere of the gym really lifts your spirits after each class you feel renergized and ready to take on the world. Love the gym and I know for sure newcomers will love it too. Hope to see y'all there! - 1/30/2022read moreread less
- Hannah WalkerI started training here a few years ago at the behest of my therapist, and I am so so glad I found this place! It's an amazing gym with terrific instructors! They are always working to change up the focus each month so that you can keep all your skills sharp and work on all different techniques so that you become a well rounded fighter! On top of that, the physical conditioning I've been put through has done wonders for my cardio health and physical well being. I dropped about 30lbs within the first year of working out here and now I've been steadily building muscle especially in my legs and shoulders/arms. I started working out here a depressed mess and in terrible physical health and they've done so much to help me turn that around. All the instructors are very kind, caring, and always answer any questions you have about fitness and health and other types of training. I love this gym so much - they feel like family 😀 - 1/30/2019read moreread less
- Danielle SotoI did Muay Thai for a few years and last year decided that I should start practicing again. I LOVED my past coaches so was super hesitant to try a new place. After reading tons and tons of reviews, I checked this gym out because it seemed the most similar to what I was looking for - a gritty gym, not boutiquey or fluffy, focused on the technique and practice rather than getting a good workout. All I can really say is that is exactly what you get, plus an insane workout every time. The coaches are awesome and super helpful. You're broken up into groups based on your experience with a dedicated coach who will tweak little things you're doing wrong so you learn proper technique. Everyone, even the most experienced students, is super nice and helpful, and will offer advice to help you improve. It's such an encouraging environment, so it never feels like they're speaking down to you. The coaches are super patient and easygoing, but will call you out if you are acting out of line or being disrespectful which I really appreciate. For reference: Currently taking 3-4 classes a week plus 1:1 training with Randy. I highly recommend personal training if you want to improve quickly or focus on certain elements of your training. I've taken a few people there for their first Muay Thai class ever and they loved it, but some things you should be aware of if you're new to this style of gym: - First class is free and includes equipment you will need. Get there early so you have time to get setup and don't feel rushed before class. - This isn't a boutique fitness gym. You can rent wraps and gloves, and they have some extra shin guards, but buy your own stuff - it's easier - When you're beginning and learning how to wrap your hands, watch videos at home and give your self extra time to get wrapped before the warmup - If you have a jump rope, bring it just in case Other than that, just show up. It's a great time! - 1/30/2020read moreread less
- W WA truly incredible gym that focuses on training hard and growth within the discipline at all levels. The coaches love what they do and are very passionate about teaching/sharing their expertise. I joined this gym not knowing how much I would love training Muay Thai. Since I joined almost 2 years ago, I have learned so much physically and mentally. My technique continues to improve, and I strive for more with each class. The classes are broken out by experience level, which really allows you to work on yourself to advance. This gym has so much to offer, whether it's special training sessions or competitions, it is wonderful to have these options in case you want a little bit more. The gym is always clean, and the people are very welcoming. One of the best decisions I have ever made! - 1/30/2019read moreread less
- Darren Hsu5/5 Trained here for roughly ~1.5 years. Highly recommend for anybody interested in finding their next martial arts gym. Coach's are all very welcoming and create a safe environment for their members that range from competition-level to day-one gym go'ers. It's clear Randy and the rest of the coaches hold their gym to a high standard in all aspects -- from attention to their students to cleanliness of the gym. You'll for sure get a great workout every class. Good vibes environment all around, they host holiday party's and social gatherings to ensure everyone feels welcome. - 4/30/2023read moreread less
